Celebrate the next generation of jazz innovation at the Make Jazz Fellowship Culminating Concert, featuring 2026 fellow Skylar Tang in an unforgettable evening of new compositions and improvisational brilliance.  Held at the legendary World Stage in Leimert Park, this special performance marks the culmination of the fellowship’s creative journey and will be available both in-person (RSVP required, see below) and via livestream.  Skylar Tang is a multidisciplinary musician known for her dynamic trumpet playing and profound compositions. Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, Tang currently studies History and Jazz Performance at Columbia University and The Juilliard School in New York City. Sponsored by the Herb Alpert Foundation to honor and support jazz artists, 18th Street Arts Center annually hosts its Make Jazz Fellowship, awarded to a jazz composer for a three-month, fully funded residency. This opportunity is for an individual jazz artist to advance or complete a body of original compositions, while living and working on 18th Street Arts Center’s campus. The award supports the artist by providing a monthly stipend, a furnished live-in studio, and arranged opportunities for collaborative and educational partnerships with Los Angeles-area musicians, colleges, and universities. This event will be in-person at the World Stage and live-streamed online.  Guest Musicians William Schwartzman William Schwartzman is a jazz performance major at The Juilliard School and a graduate of the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts.
