Mend & Make New

Mend & Make New is a six‑week creative repair course that teaches students how to refresh, reinforce, and reimagine their clothing using both subtle and expressive techniques. Through invisible mending, visible patchwork, embroidery, darning, and hybrid redesign, students learn how to assess damage, choose the right materials, and build repairs that are both durable and personal. The class blends practical skill‑building with organic, discovery‑based learning while encouraging students to explore materials, experiment with stitches, and find their own style of repair. By the end of the series, each student completes a final project that combines multiple techniques and celebrates the character of well‑loved garments.
