Blacknificently Divine: Martha’s Vineyard

This special chamber music concert features artists from HBCU Arts and Castle of our Skins, performing works by the Blacknificent 7 Composer Collective — Jessie Montgomery, Jasmine Barnes, Shawn Okpebholo, Damien Geter, Dave Ragland, Joel Thompson, and Carlos Simon. The program also includes the world premiere of a newly commissioned work by emerging composer Jaylin Vinson, supported through American Composers Forum’s “Recomposing America” initiative and the Blacknificent 7 commissioning initiative. Timed with the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, Recomposing America aims to refresh and reimagine the “who,” “what,” and “why” of the United States, and the stories therein.
