About this event
One of 4 upcoming events at American Institute for Stuttering, and 6,740 across New York City.
Join Ilene Fox for an inspiring, hands-on creative experience based on the work of her late husband, Allan Fox, and his book Doodles, Volume One. Ilene will share Allan’s story and his collection of uplifting doodles and words of wisdom, then invite you to create your own positive message paired with a quick doodle drawing. No art experience is necessary! All you need is a kind heart, an open mind, and a positive mindset. Together, we’ll explore how a simple doodle can become a powerful tool for self-expression, mindfulness, encouragement, and positivity. You’ll have the opportunity to create your own inspirational messages and artwork using black markers, black paint, paper, post-its and small canvases. Come ready to doodle, create, reflect, and spread a little positivity—one simple drawing and message at a time. Let’s Doodle Like Allan! For more than 30 years, Ilene Fox has devoted her career to nurturing kindness, emotional growth, and a love of learning in the classroom and beyond. She began her professional journey in marketing and advertising before pivoting to education three decades ago. As a passionate educator, Ilene supports students by teaching practical strategies for managing emotions, reducing stress, and building resilience. Today, she brings both worlds together through the continuation of Realize Harmony—the company her late husband, Allan Fox, created to spread music, art, and ideas. Ilene’s work took on deeper meaning when Allan suddenly passed away in 2021. What began as sharing Allan’s book with her students to honor his memory evolved into a larger mission: helping children and adults “Doodle Like Allan”- a way to express emotions, cultivate compassion, and practice mindfulness. Drawing from the whimsical art and messages in Allan’s book, Doodles, Volume One, Ilene has worked with thousands of students, educators, and community members, introducing inspirational doodling as an accessible and powerful form of social-emotional learning and mindfulness. Ilene has received multiple awards for her work. She was honored to be chosen as the keynote speaker for LISHA (Long Island Speech and Hearing Association) for their yearly conference. She has worked with many supportive spaces and looks forward to her work with the American Institute of Stuttering.
