He’s the author of six chapbooks and is widely published in literary journals.. Loren Niemi is a Minnesota based poet, author and storyteller whose work includes a 2020 Midwest Book Award winning short story collection, “What Haunts Us”, a poetic memoir “A Breviary for the Lost” and “Circus Rex” a novel of romance, catastrophe and offbeat humor. Over the past 45 years Loren has shared poems and stories in urban and rural communities, on fringe festival and cabaret stages, and in over 200 poetry and story slams. Laurie Allmann will read from her new book of poetry, Places, everyone (Nodin Press). Laurie writes on themes related to the natural world and is a founding co-editor of Agate magazine. She won a Minnesota Book Award for her collection of essays, Far From Tame, and a gold MIPA award from the Midwest Independent Publishers Association for her first book of poetry, An Hour from Now. Thomas R. Smith is a poet, editor, and teacher living in western Wisconsin. 2026 has been a bumper crop year for him, with a new collection from Nodin Press, Heaven and Nature, a collection of Robert Bly’s essays he edited for White Pine Press, The Garden Entrusted to Me, and a third-share (the other two are Timothy Young and dougie padilla) in a Bly tribute collection, In the Bear’s Cabin (Apsu Press).
