ASI and Augustana Lutheran Church are proud to present Swedish organist Johannes Skoog in recital on Friday, February 27, at Augustana Lutheran Church at 1400 South Robert Street, West St. Paul, MN 55118. The recital will be followed by a reception which will include a Q&A session between Minnesota Public Radio’s Michael Barone and Mr. Skoog. The recital and reception are free and open to the public. About the Artist: Winner of the First Prize and the Bach Prize at the 2024 Canadian International Organ Competition, Skoog is one of Sweden’s brightest young organists. In addition to his major competition win in Canada, Johannes Skoog was recently appointed and honored by His Majesty the King of Sweden to be the new Royal Court Organist. Skoog has performed solo concerts at distinguished venues throughout Europe including the notable Bozar Concert House in Brussels, Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, and Stockholm Town Hall. He holds degrees from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Paris France, and the Staatliche Musikhochschule in Stuttgart, Germany, and his teachers have included Olivier Latry, Nathan Laube, Louis Robilliard, Michel Bouvard, Thierry Escaich, and Mathias Kjellgren. The recipient of multiple scholarships from the Swedish and French Academies of music, Skoog is also the only student ever to have received the highest grade in organ interpretation (mention très bien à l’unanimité avec félicitations du jury), for both years of the master’s program at the Paris Conservatory. Skoog spent five years as Associate Organist at the Cathedral of Västerås. He currently teaches organ interpretation at Lilla Akademien in Stockholm.
