Preschoolers ages 3-5 and their favorite grown-ups explore Swedish and Swedish-American culture in a hands-on program designed for young learners. ASI educator and teaching artist Jen Newburg leads a slöjd lesson, introducing preschoolers to the Swedish craft tradition that emphasizes creativity, problem solving, and process over product. Children explore materials, experiment with techniques, and reflect on their choices as they create their own needle-felted projects from wool. Families join together for a fun-filled morning celebrating slöjd, creativity, and Swedish and Swedish-American culture. Additional information: Adult accompaniment is required, with a limit of one adult per child. Advanced registration required. Registration includes museum admission for one adult and child. Limit one adult per preschooler.
