About this event
One of 178 upcoming events at Anne Springs Close Greenway.
Explore the fascinating world of decomposers and discover the critical role they play in the ecology of the forest floor. From fungi to other organisms that break down organic matter, decomposers are essential to nutrient cycling and the health of forest ecosystems. Led by ecologist Andy Kane and mushroom enthusiast Slawomir Opuszko, this program begins with an engaging discussion of the ecology of the forest floor, including the role of decomposers and the diversity of organisms that contribute to this important ecological process. Participants will then head into the forest to search for and identify fungal specimens, putting their knowledge into practice through hands-on exploration. Participants will receive 3 hours of Master Naturalist Advanced Training toward their annual requirements. Register Here
