In collaboration with Motus Playback Theater, Museo de las Americas presents an interactive performance inspired by Accidentally on Purpose to celebrate the history, resilience, and cultural contributions of Denver’s Chicano community.Playback Theater is an improvisational form where professional artists bring real-life stories to life on the spot. Audience members are invited to share their own stories and responses to the exhibition and the Chicano movement, which are then reenacted live through Playback improv.Presented in the context of the 250th anniversary of the United States, the 150th anniversary of Colorado, and the 35th anniversary of Museo de las Americas, the performance creates space for connection and reflection through collective storytelling.About Motus Theater: Motus Theater’s mission is to create original theater to support community conversation on critical issues of our time. They aim to use the power of art to build alliances across diverse segments of our community and country. Motus Playback Theater is a new Motus project. They train a diverse group of culturally competent improv performers who are prepared to skillfully “playback” the multitude of experiences that make up our unique communities.
