Workshops Family Friendly Arts & Culture

Young artists looking to learn sewing skills on their Spring Break are invited to join instructor Tanya Ehrsam for this pillowcase workshop. You’ll learn how sewing machines work, including how to thread your needle, wind a bobbin, measure and cut fabric. You’ll finish by assembling your pillowcase for a fun and functional textile project. Students can bring fabric of their choice or select from the Art Reach stash. You can mix and match prints, upcycle old sheets, or purchase new yardage- the choice is yours! If you have a sewing machine you would like to learn on, you may bring it, or use an Art Reach machine. This workshop will be held from 1-4 pm, Friday, April 3, in the Idonea Hersee Classroom at Art Reach, 111 E. Broadway in Mount Pleasant. Yardage Requirements: 1 yard cotton- main body of pillow ¼ yard coordinating fabric- opening of pillow (if desired) Recommended age: 8 and up Please note: An active membership is not required to register. Active members receive a 15% discount on classes.
