Beautifully Broken Presented by ArtHeart Curated by Katya Neptune On View June 5 – July 25, 2026 Opening Event and AW Re-Opening Celebration, June 5th, 5 – 8pm Featured Artists: Lori Arbel | Dave Buschemeyer | Moises David | Gregory Dirr | Chenco Gomez | Amanda Madrigal | Pablo Matute | Jose Mendez | Aurora Molina | Katya Neptune | Kim Noble | Felisa Prieto The group exhibition challenges the stigma surrounding mental health while inviting reflection, empathy, and connection. While not all individuals live with a formal diagnosis, mental health constitutes a universal dimension of human experience. Although one in five Americans lives with a mental health condition, these experiences often remain hidden behind silence, shame, and social marginalization. This exhibition seeks to illuminate these realities. Through intimate and thought-provoking artworks, Beautifully Broken explores grief, ageism, reclaiming personal agency after a mental health diagnosis, anxiety, insomnia, isolation during COVID, addiction and recovery, and dissociative identity disorder. The exhibition is the second of its kind, the first having taken place at the Bailey Contemporary Arts Center in 2019. Both exhibitions examine societal structures that perpetuate fear and exclusion while honoring the resilience, strength, and creativity that emerge through vulnerability and healing. By opening a space for dialogue, the exhibition fosters both individual reflection and collective awareness. It highlights the interconnectedness of mental health and community, advocating for empathy, education, and support as essential frameworks for change. Extending beyond the gallery walls, Beautifully Broken invites consideration of creativity as both a vehicle for emotional expression and a lens for understanding broader social dynamics. The exhibition encourages audiences to reexamine assumptions, engage in meaningful conversation, and cultivate more compassionate and inclusive approaches to mental health. Cover image by Moises David
