NEW NOSTALGIA &REW SORIA East Gallery Join us for a first look on August 7th, 6 – 9pm. Part of First Friday Art Walk Arts Warehouse presents New Nostalgia, works by Andrew Soria. Soria’s work consists of unique landscapes created from reimagined photographs. His subjects are iconic architecture, city streets, and overlooked urban details, discovered through immersion in a specific area. Often walking these urban areas, Soria takes photographs on site and assembles the images into pop surreal compositions. The new landscapes have a kitschy and nostalgic feel as the familiar imagery encourages connection and memory of somewhere one may have visited before. At first glance, the images appear colorful and inviting however when viewed more closely, small disruptions, hidden details, and symbolic elements begin to surface, pointing to themes of displacement, inequality, resilience, and longing. These new landscapes also act as documentation of a place, preserving the character or specific iconography as the place evolves and sometimes disappears. The exhibition includes a selection of Soria’s assembled landscapes from various locations such as Mexico City, Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood, and Fremont Street in Las Vegas, Nevada. A life-size piece spanning 9 feet wide titled Mementos of America is also on view. With the larger format it creates the feeling of stepping into the landscape, and provides an opportunity to closely observe the hidden details. Alongside the large work, detail shots that are isolating and highlighting imagery found within the large format piece. These layered scenes encourage viewers to slow down and spend time with the work, much like how we experience the neighborhoods we live in or move through. The images reflect how neighborhoods grow, change, and sometimes break under social, economic, and cultural pressure. New Nostalgia is on view in the East Gallery at Arts Warehouse beginning August 7 – September 26, 2026. Andrew Soria is a pop surrealist photographer known for hyperreal, large-scale cityscape composites. Drawing from his Latino heritage and personal experiences, he constructs dense, vividly colored environments by individually photographing and assembling architectural elements, signage, and urban textures into meticulously detailed compositions. His work explores the tension between nostalgia and modernity, often centering on the visual overload of commercial landscapes and the stories embedded within them. Series such as Welcome to the Neighborhood, Beverly Row, and Faded Glory examine themes of class disparity, cultural identity, and the layered contradictions of city life, using surreal photomontage to transform familiar places into immersive, dreamlike environments. Soria has exhibited internationally in cities including Miami, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Paris, Berlin, Hong Kong, Toronto, and Seoul.
