Painting Reflections in Water: Thursday One-Day Workshop

Thursday, August 13th from 9:00AM-4:00PM. Part of the Plein Air Art Festival. (Our Wednesday workshop was so popular, we added a second date!) Discover methods for painting impactful reflections in water in this one-day workshop with award-winning painter Liz Prescott. With a focus on painting what you see rather than what you think you see, Liz will guide you in creating gorgeous water and sky scenes. This workshop will provide you with tools to get more drama in your paintings by exploring the incredible show that nature reveals in reflections. Learn to mix the multitude of colors seen in water reflections and play with hard vs. soft edges. Paint in acrylics or oils. Liz will demo in acrylics. Please bring your sketching materials, charcoal and drawing paper, as well as a few blank canvases and your acrylic paints as well as your easel set up for painting outside. You can bring your own lunch or check out one of the local restaurants in Yarmouth. $175 workshop fee* does not include materials. About the instructor: Liz has been making art in her Freeport, Maine studio for over 20 years. She exhibits her work throughout New England. She is a graduate of Maine College of Art (BFA 2000) and Vermont College of Fine Arts (MFA 2003 Visual Arts). Her work is included in the permanent collections at the Portland Museum of Art, Colby College, Bowdoin College, New York Public Library, and the University of New England. She is a founding member of Meetinghouse Arts Gallery in Freeport, where she remains an active gallery committee member.
