About this event
One of 14 upcoming events at FalmouthCulturalCouncil, and 1,522 across Cape Cod.
New signs in the accessible Upper Coonamessett River’s Purple Section describe the Wampanoag people’s relationship with the land, native plants, herring, and animals in both English and in the Wampanoag language. The project focused on restoring the ecological function of the Coonamessett River and its floodplain while creating opportunities for residents and visitors to experience the area. This signage received a grant from the Falmouth Cultural Council in 2026. The Coonamessett Greenway Heritage Trail hosts seven trails that are ADA accessible. Public access features include walking trails, boardwalks, scenic overlooks and an outdoor classroom designed to allow people to explore the restored landscape without disrupting sensitive habitats. FREE. Open dawn to dusk. Information on all their trails: HERE.
