Four (4) Wednesdays, April 8, 15, 22, & 29, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Work from a live model in a supportive studio setting. Each session begins with short warm-up and gesture poses to loosen up, followed by longer poses for more detailed study. Participants are welcome to work in their medium of choice. The model may vary each week. Student-supplied materials. Joy George attended the University of Houston for Architecture and then Fine Arts, completing a BFA. She studied at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston for her MFA in Figurative Painting and was accepted to the Newhouse School at Syracuse University, where she studied Communications Design. Joy studies regularly with mentor, Martin Campos of Philadelphia, and has worked for several years with Cape Cod artist, Laura Shabott. She also enjoys attending classes with other Cape Cod artists whenever possible. Her work has been featured in exhibits by the National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society, American Women Artists, the Cape Cod Museum of Art, the Cape Cod Art Center, the Commons in Provincetown, Art Fluent, and the Gallery of the Guild of Harwich Artists. She is a juried Artist member of American Women Artists, the National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society, the Cape Cod Art Center, and the Guild of Harwich Artists. Other professional memberships include the Copley Society of Art, the Newton Art Association, and the Provincetown Art Association & Museum.
