Rising Stars Concert with Anant Malpani & Christopher Tavernier

Rising Stars Concert is a collaboration between the Asheville Chamber Music Series and the Asheville Art Museum, featuring North Carolina musicians embarking on a major concert career. Anant recently graduated from the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill with a degree in Economics and Music, where his studies were generously supported by the Kenan Music Scholarship. At Carolina, Anant served as Concertmaster of the UNC Symphony, and was a recipient of the David Arons Prize, Benjamin Swalin Award, and Phi Beta Kappa honors. He has been invited to perform at festivals around the world, including the Aspen, Bowdoin, Domaine Forget de Charlevoix, and Decoda Music Festivals, and at Creative Dialogue France. An avid chamber musician, Anant has performed alongside Johnny Gandelsman, John Paul Jones, Anssi Karttunen, and David Alberman. In 2025, he received first prize in the Charleston International Music Competitio, and was selected as prize winner and soloist in the UNC Symphony Concerto Competition. His previous teachers include Nicholas DiEugenio, William Fedkenheuer, and Cornelia Heard. In his free time, Anant enjoys spending time with friends, family, and his dogs Dobby and Winston.
