During the election cycle of 1860 and into the early administration of Abraham Lincoln, senior statesman William Henry Seward was intensely active in trying to find compromises and political solutions that would repair the breach between the North and the South. Author C. Evan Stewart will present material from his book William Henry Seward’s Quest to Save the Nation During the Secession Winter. This snapshot of a crucial few months in American history illuminates the statecraft skills and dedication of the Town of Warwick’s “Most Famous Man.”
