Roster Construction, Contract Negotiation, and Player Evaluation in a Modern MLB Front Office With the proliferation of data in baseball over the past two decades, teams now have a plethora of resources to leverage for roster construction. How this qualitative and quantitative information is integrated into decision making in the Draft, free agency, and trade conversations will be analyzed by Katie Krall based on her experiences coaching for the Boston Red Sox, in Baseball Operations for the Cincinnati Reds, and at Major League Baseball in the Office of the Commissioner. The principles of conducting a negotiation as well as the metrics that set the markets will be outlined for a behind the scenes look at how today’s front office executives build their teams.
