Strike a pose, own the floor, and step into the world of Ballroom with an absolute beginner’s introduction to Vogue Femme and the iconic culture that surrounds it. BalletX proudly welcomes Rylee Locker, Philadelphia legend and Mother of the Iconic House of Prodigy, to lead this electrifying session. Whether you’re a longtime admirer of Ballroom or a total newcomer, this class is your chance to learn the five elements of Vogue Femme: Hands Performance, Catwalks, Duckwalks, Spins+Dips, and Floor Performance. Explore these elements through drills, freestyle, and choreography, all within a supportive, high-energy environment. Come as you are, wear what makes you feel powerful, and prepare to learn, sweat, and celebrate Ballroom style. Rylee will also introduce the rich history and cultural contexts of the Ballroom scene, celebrating self-expression, resilience, and community. Rooted in LGBTQ+ Black and Latinx communities, Ballroom is more than movement: it’s a celebration of identity, survival, and artistry. This class is open to all movers. No experience necessary, and all are welcome! Please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. This event is for ages 14+. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. About Instructor Rylee Locker Originally from Phoenix, Arizona, Rylee Locker, also known as Rylee Prodigy, is a dance artist and educator based out of Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from Arizona State University in 2019, receiving her BFA in Dance Education and ended up moving to Philadelphia to further pursue her career in the Ballroom Scene. Now, Rylee is known Internationally for her award winning performances in the Ballroom Scene. As an educator, Rylee centers her pedagogical practices around how community empowers our movement. It is important to her to organize community events, prioritize the accommodation of students’ needs, and empower students to take agency of their bodies. She teaches Vogue Femme, Heels Dance, Contemporary, Waacking, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Street Jazz. Altogether Rylee strives to inspire and empower others through her art and pedagogical practices.
