In 1853 the Maryland School for the Blind, first known as the Maryland Institution for the Instruction of the Blind, first opened its doors in downtown Baltimore, and moved to Parkville in 1907. Join us for an alumni panel discussion and campus tour. Terri Nettles is an alumna of the Maryland School for the Blind who credits her time there with building the Braille literacy, independence, and confidence that shaped her into a successful blind professional and leader. She has worked in independent living services and Braille instruction throughout the region and remains deeply engaged in service, currently serving as President of the MSB Alumni Association and as a leader in the Lions Club and National Federation of the Blind. W. Robert Hair is Superintendent of the Maryland School for the Blind, where he has led the school through significant financial stabilization, strategic planning, and campus modernization. He focuses on advocacy, partnerships, and building a strong, mission-driven culture that ensures students who are blind or have low vision have the tools to succeed in school and in life.
