ENSEMBLE DÉRIVE is a collective of young musicians – the first of its kind –  dedicated to the music of our time. The artists speak fluently about these complex works with the audience and deliver world-class performances. ENSEMBLE DÉRIVE will present contemporary music including world premieres, led by co-directors David Fulmer and Laurentia Woo. THE MUSICIANS Michael Sun, 14, is a clarinetist at Juilliard Pre-College, studying under Professor Ayako Oshima Neidich. He performs as part of the Juilliard Pre-College Symphony and a Juilliard Pre-College Wind Quintet. Michael has won the first prize in the Charleston International Music Competition and the Gold International Classical Music Competition. He has received numerous other recognitions, including First Prize in the National League of Performing Arts Competition, First Prize in the Elite International Music Competition, Grand Prize in the Young Musician Olympia Competition, 2nd place in the PIMF Virtual Concerto Competition, 3rd place in the International Clarinet Association Junior Performance Competition, and becoming a finalist in the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Young Ensembles competition. He was selected to the New York State Band Directors Association (NYSBDA) Honor Band and has served three times as principal clarinetist in the All-County Band. Michael has also attended the Kitakaruizawa Music Seminar, and has performed in reputable halls including Carnegie Hall and Merkin Hall. Alyson Lee is a 15 year old high school sophomore attending the music major at Bergen County Academies. She is currently studying flute under Bart Feller at Juilliard Precollege and likes to share the joys of music through performing with her peers!  Alyson has performed as a soloist, orchestral member, and as a chamber musician. She is passionate about helping those with health issues through her music and has performed at veteran homes and medical centers. Alyson enjoys performing for and bringing music to her community. Edward Lee, 17, is a high school junior at Bergen County Academies in Hackensack, NJ, and a violist studying under Professor Sophie Arbuckle at Juilliard Pre-College. He has been a member of the NYYS Chamber Program for four years, earned a full scholarship to the 2024 Morningside Music Bridge Program, and recently was accepted to the National Youth Orchestra for the summer of 2025. His musical journey includes training at the Paris International Music Academy and Astona Summer Music Academy, and masterclasses with renowned violists such as Lawrence Dutton, Carol Rodland, and Roberto Diaz. Outside music, Edward enjoys basketball, history, sociology, and discovering new cultures through travel and food. Noah Chung-Igelman (cello), 18, lives in New York, NY, and attends the High School for Mathematics, Science, and Engineering. He is a student at Juilliard Pre-College, where he studies with Clara Kim. Noah has been awarded top prizes in competitions such as the New York MTNA ...
