About this event
One of 4 upcoming events at Basque Museum and Cultural Center, and 120 across Boise.
Join us for a special presentation by Dr. Xabier Irujo as he explores the largely overlooked role played by the Basques during the American Revolutionary War. Dr. Irujo will discuss Basque maritime and commercial networks, the contribution of sailors, merchants, privateers, and military personnel, and the strategic importance of Basque ports and resources in supporting the military cause. The struggle for American independence has been largely studied, but the Basque contributions have received comparatively little attention… until now. Come for the history but stay for the performance by the Oinkari Basque Dancers and pinxtos! This event is free and open to all.
