Crosswalks: Downtown Walking Tour

The first step to revitalizing a downtown is to repopulate its sidewalks. This is the mission behind “Crosswalks,” our brand new downtown walking tour that invites locals and tourists alike to join the conversation about Beaumont’s past, present, and future. This tour will highlight booms, busts, and revitalization throughout the history of downtown Beaumont, from the Spindletop boom days to Ben Rogers’ ill-fated Hilton Hotel. The tour will also showcase emerging business development across downtown and position Beaumont as Texas’ next great preservation success. Along the way, guests will discover the history of downtown landmarks like the Kyle Building, the Petroleum Building, Antioch Baptist Church, and The Copa, as well as buildings long forgotten. Ultimately, this tour invites our community and neighbors to ask each other, “How was modern-day Beaumont built?
