COMMUNITY EVENT: Wild Whatcom Out and About

Out and About is a monthly nature program for queer adults (18+). Join us for Mycelium and Me | Saturday, November 14, 2026 | 2:00-4:00PM Have you ever wondered about how mushrooms grow so fast after the rain, or why dead trees always seem to be covered in fungus? Join us to learn all about mycelium-the hidden network of tiny fungal threads which are typically found underground! We will explore the often unseen ways that mushrooms impact the world around us, from breaking down dead stuff to providing food to countless animals around the world, including us! Nature is full of relationships which are often hidden and easy to miss if you don’t look closely… so we will explore slowly and carefully, searching for cool mushrooms as well as any other neat flora and fauna we might spot!
