Creatures of the Night: In Search of the Blue Ghost

Join a Bernheim Naturalist in search of the fascinating and rare Blue Ghost firefly. Active from May through June, these remarkable insects emit a steady, blue-green glow rather than the familiar blinking flash. Flightless females glow low along the forest floor, while males drift above them in search of mates—sometimes shining continuously for up to a full minute.
