Historically Black Exhibition Opening Reception

Join the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute for the opening of Historically Black, a new exhibition celebrating the history, culture, traditions, and impact of Alabama’s 14 Historically Black Colleges and Universities. As the state with the most HBCUs, we have to set the party off right! For one night, we’re activating the entire BCRI campus. Visit the Odessa Woolfolk Gallery, where each of Alabama’s 14 HBCUs will have a dedicated installation featuring artifacts, photographs, memorabilia, and more. Stop through University Blvd and snap a photo in front of your favorite school in our transformed rotunda, then grab some great food and head to The Yard for music, good vibes, and dancing. Imagine one big HBCU homecoming, all under one roof. We’ll have live jazz, music and dancing, food and cocktails, and connecting. Whether you’re coming to rep your HBCU or just ready to celebrate the legacy of our HBCUs, we look forward to seeing you! Registration is required.
