Smithsonian Channel Film Series: America’s 250th From May to December, join us for our Smithsonian Channel Film Series celebrating and exploring America’s 250th through a variety of subjects! Starting on the first Saturday of the month, each film will air daily at 2:00pm for a full week (except Mondays), providing multiple opportunities to check it out. These screenings are free and open to the public. America in Color: Made in the USA (November 7-13) A look at the journey of the American worker through the first half of the 20th century. At the turn of the 20th century, 29 million Americans are working and 40% of them are farmers. Over the decades, factories expand like never before, two world wars speed up technological change, and by the 1950s, American workers have the highest wages and consumer power of any country in the world. This is the story of the men and women who built the American Dream, presented entirely in color through digitally remastered archival footage and home movies.
