He learned slide guitar from his grandfather Zan, a Georgia bluesman who played with a pocket knife and told him to always be original. Raised in Cass County near the Louisiana line, he has shared Dallas festival bills with Lucky Peterson and played the Lucerne Blues Festival in Switzerland. Albums like King of the Barnyard and I Didn’t Choose the Boogie, The Boogie Chose Me mix backwoods blues with a shot of country, delivered in a growl fans compare to Howlin’ Wolf.
