SHOW · 6:30 PM · DOORS 5:15 PM Admission: $15 Chris Gamper built this residency around Drew Zingg, the guitarist who ran Steely Dan's touring band as music director in the mid nineties and spent years at Boz Scaggs' side before he died in San Francisco in April 2025. FunkJazz is the groove night that grew out of it. The Oakland drummer and his band work the songbooks of Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea and Freddie Hubbard, with San Francisco pianist Grant Levin on keys. Gamper moves between drum set, vibraphone, marimba and steel drums, and he has spent a career crossing Bay Area jazz, funk, Latin funk and world beat.
