Raised in Oakdale in the Central Valley and now rooted in Santa Cruz, Lucero grew up on Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding and Sam Cooke, and he has turned that soul into a run of independent albums, including Dotted Line and Opportunity, with wife Justina Lucero on bass. When the pandemic shut the clubs, the band livestreamed sets from empty rooms and played relief shows for CZU fire families. Two early Sunday sets in an intimate room. Grab a table before it fills.
