The Costa Offshore World Championship returns to Quepos, Costa Rica in 2027, bringing together the most diverse gathering of anglers in the world. This year, hundreds of teams from more than 40 countries and every hemisphere are invited to converge to earn their place on sportfishing’s most prestigious stage—uniting anglers of different languages, cultures, and fishing traditions. Beyond the competition, lifelong friendships are forged as teams share experiences and celebrate a global passion for billfishing. For 2027, the OWC introduces exciting new opportunities: both Champions (qualifying event winners) and Invitees (open-entry teams) are eligible to compete; private boats are permitted; and omni sonar use will carry adjusted scoring to level the playing field. Strict IGFA rules and cutting-edge video verification preserve the integrity of every catch, while anglers may depart from multiple Costa Rican marinas, with all fish weighed and festivities taking place at the world-class Marina Pez Vela. At its heart, the OWC is about honor, tradition, and global camaraderie—where the ultimate prize is not only the trophy and extensive sponsor-package, but the pride of wearing the OWC Championship Rings. Here are just a few reasons to fish: The Costa Offshore World Championship features superb sport fishing amid one of the world’s most prolific fisheries in Quepos, Costa Rica. The competition is fierce yet friendly, with participating teams visiting from across the globe. There are two (2) different entry fee prices. The entry fee for “Champions”, which are entrants who have won an Official Qualifying Event, is $4,000. The entry fee for “Invitees” is open-entry at $5,000. All entrants compete in the same division. For “Champions” pricing, at least one (1) person on the team must have been on the original first-place team of the Official Qualifying Event they are representing. All teams must pay a $165 Government Tax Processing Fee in addition to their base entry fee. This basic entry fee covers the participation of up to four registered anglers. Additional anglers can be added for $1,000 each, however, only five anglers are permitted to fish each day. Anglers may be rotated each day. The first 20 teams to register and pay base entry on or before January 31, 2027, as reflected on OWC.Catchstat.com, will receive a $500 discount. General entry fees are not refundable for any reason. Every year, the Offshore World Championship never disappoints. Check out past winners and highlights from previous tournaments.
