KOOBI FORA w/ FREE MOMENT

Boom Boom Room Presents a stacked night of music beginning with Free Moment, a groovy dance band of Bay Area veterans who have been gracing stages for decades. Formed from some of the founding members of Passenger, they will get the night going with infectious melodies and raucous rhythms that will get you dancing early. Then Koobi Fora will take over the rest of the night into the early morning with their special brand of jam band funk. KOOBI FORA Koobi Fora is thrilled to be back at the Boom Boom Room, our favorite late-night joint and one of the best places to see live music in SF. And we are even more excited to bring Josh Gelfand to the stage with us for a very special night of music! Josh is an amazing local musician and friend and recently teamed up with Jackson (guitar/vox), Taylor (bass/vox), and Glenn (drums) after getting together to jam a few times. Josh has an extensive background in music and plays piano regularly throughout the city. He brings an arsenal of talent to Koobi Fora, strengthening the rhythmic grooves, punctuating the jams, and singing lead vocals on a variety of covers. Koobi sets are upbeat, engaging, and fun! We’re going to bring a soft touch and take the songs out for a hard ride, ya dig? Glenn is a maniac on the kit and locks in with Jackson’s guitar during his shredding solos. Taylor lays down the thump and keeps your head bobbing while guitar and keys weave jams like spun gold. Thanks Tates. Our songs are catchy and danceable. Our jams often evolve in interesting ways before landing back into familiar territory. Be sure not to miss SF’s best kept secret, because Koobi Fora is fixing to please everyone in the room tonight! FREE MOMENT Free Moment is seriously psyched to bring this new project to the Boom Boom Room. This band was built around the idea of getting great players together, leaving room for the music to breathe, and seeing where the moment takes us. Expect a high-energy night of deep grooves, big guitars, improvisation and songs that can stretch well beyond where they started. We’v been building this sound together and can’t think of a better room than the BBR to turn it loose. THE BAND / VIBE Free Moment lives where rock, funk, groove and improvisation collide. The music draws from classic and modern influences but isn’t interested in staying inside one genre – or playing everything exactly the same way twice. The band combines strong songs with an open, live approach: heavy grooves, dynamic builds, psychedelic textures, funky pockets and plenty of room for the musicians to interact and take chances. The result moves between tightly arranged material and spontaneous moments that only happen once. Put great players in a room, give the music some space, and see what happens. That’s Free Moment.
