This exhibition brings together Saya Woolfalk's WoodsWoman process materials and permanent collection works that explore human-nature relationships, the cosmos, speculative worlds, and storytelling. This project will inform Woolfalk's commission for the Museum’s renovated main lobby opening in Fall 2027. The 14 NYC high school students who participated in The Bronx Museum's Teen Summer 2026 session collaborated with Museum Educators to curate an exhibition of works from our permanent collection that demonstrate how art can defy convention, explore materials, and be a form of resistance. The Bronx Museum partnered with Storefront for Art and Architecture and NYC agencies DCLA & DHS to present artist Alex Strada’s project Public Address in The Bronx (view project map). The project platforms the experiences of people living and working in shelters, with a central installation at Joyce Kilmer Park. Transcending the Form features artwork created by participants in The Bronx Museum’s Lifelong Studio: Abstract Figurative Painting workshop. Lifelong Studio is the Museum’s program that offers free, in-depth art-making experiences to adults aged 55 and older. *Groups of any size organized privately and through a school, community center, or other entity must register through our Group Tours form at least one week in advance of their visit. Due to capacity limitations, groups are not engaged through this program. Thank you for understanding.
