The Ladies of Simone - A Tribute to Nina Simone

The Ladies of Simone celebrate the rich artistic legacy of the American musical icon and Empress of Soul, Nina Simone. The Ladies of Simone will perform Nina Simone classics such as “I Loves You Porgy,” “The Look of Love,” “My Baby Just Cares for Me,” “To Be Young, Gifted, and Black”, “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” and more. Don’t Miss the Ladies of Simone, with vocalists Sarah Gracel, Ja’Nia Harden, and Deana Butler-Rahming! Award-winning actress and vocalist Sarah Gracel, portrayed the young Nina Simone in the South Florida premiere of Simply Simone. She earned a Carbonell Award for Best Actress in a Musical for playing Effie White in Dreamgirls. Vocalist and educator Ja’Nia Harden performs jazz, R&B, pop and gospel. A FAMU alumna, she portrayed Nina Simone on the verge of success in Simply Simone and performs with The Harden Project. South Florida vocalist and actress Deana Butler-Rahming, portrayed Nina Simone in her later years in Simply Simone. Her credits include Ain’t Misbehavin’, Storyville and Zooman and the Sign. She has been honored as a South Florida gospel music legend. AMPLIFY ARTS is a new Broward Center initiative which aims to support and elevate local artists and emerging arts organizations with the goal of helping them reach a wider audience and develop their skills as professional presenters. There will be opportunities for South Florida artists in a wide variety of performing arts genres to bring their talents to Broward Center venues throughout the year.
