Poetry Open Mic Night (September)

The power of poetry unites us. Poetry Open Mic at the Burke Arts Council Theater Thursday, September 3, 6:30–8:00PM (doors open at 6) Emcee: Kyra Freeman of Morganton Free and open to the public (over 18). Donations are welcome and appreciated. Refreshments will be available for purchase About the Night This open mic creates a welcoming space for people who live in or wander near Burke County to gather and share poems aloud. Bring your voice, your favorite lines, or simply come to listen and soak in the evening. How to Participate Read or recite your own original work; Share a poem by another writer that speaks to you; Or come to listen and enjoy the community. Please sign up in advance to read or recite SIGN UP HERE! Performance limit: 8 minutes per performer; a second reading may be possible if time permits. If time allows, walk-up participants may be invited to share one or two poems. Whether you’ve just written your first poem or have published collections, join us in the magical performance space at Burke Arts Council to share and celebrate poetry.
