It is officially vernal pool season, so come join us for about an hour on Saturday, April 4th at 10 am at one of Dennis’s most special pools with Audubon Naturalist Ian Ives! Ian Ives is the Manager at Mass Audubon’s Long Pasture, Ashumet, Barnstable Great Marsh and Skunknett River Wildlife Sanctuaries on Cape Cod. His job responsibilities include overall management of the sanctuaries, community outreach and development, property and ecological management, and education. One of his primary goals is to engage the community in Mass Audubon’s mission work and expand activities at the wildlife sanctuaries he oversees. At this special event Ian will teach us about vernal pools and the wildlife that depends on them. We will have nets, buckets, and more, to explore the critters we might find at this special habitat. Rubber boots or other waterproof footwear is recommended. The location of the pool will be shared upon registration. This event will be capped at 20 registrants. More information about the location will be sent by email 12-24 hours before the event. RSVP here! PSA Vernal pools are sensitive habitats so attendance will be capped off at 20 people, so register while there is space.
