MET Museum Tour: 250 Years Of American Art

Thursday, September 17, 2026 from 2-3:30pm As the country celebrates its 250th anniversary, explore one of the best collections of American Art at the Met Museum. From folk art to Gilded Age portraiture, Civil War era scenes to American Impressionist landscapes, the recently rehung galleries tell unexpected and fascinating stories. Colorful Tiffany glass, beautifully detailed Native American artwork, and masterworks by Homer and Eakins are among the highlights of this tour. Merrily Kerr is an art critic and writer based in New York. For more than 20 years, Merrily has published in international art magazines including Time Out New York, Art on Paper, Flash Art, Art Asia Pacific, Art Review, in addition to writing catalogue essays and guest lecturing. Merrily teaches art appreciation at Marymount Manhattan College and has taught for Cooper Union Continuing Education.
