Join local authors and artists Gail Straub, Nina Shengold, and Kate McGloughlin for a presentation celebrating the beauty and inspiration of the Ashokan Reservoir. REGISTER HERE REGISTER HERE Date: Saturday, May 16, 2026 Time: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM Location: Catskills Visitor Center Reading together as a trio, the “Reservoiristas” will braid excerpts from their books The Ashokan Way, Reservoir Year, and Solace and Sanctuary into a dawn-to-starlight journey along the reservoir.  The readings will be accompanied by a slideshow of Kate McGloughlin’s luminous landscape paintings that capture the changing light and spirit of this iconic Catskills place. Presenters: Kate McGloughlin, a painter, printmaker, and poet and twelfth-generation Olivebridge resident, has exhibited her work internationally and co-authored Solace and Sanctuary: The Ashokan’s Enduring Gifts. Nina Shengold, author of Reservoir Year: A Walker’s Book of Days and other books, is an award-winning writer and teaches creative writing at Vassar College. Gail Straub, an internationally recognized author and co-founder of the Empowerment Institute, has written extensively about nature and community, including The Ashokan Way. Books by the presenters will be available for purchase, with all proceeds supporting the Catskill Center. This is a free event with a suggested donation of $10.
