About this event
One of 13 upcoming events at Center for Contemporary Arts Santa Fe, and 478 across Santa Fe.
@ One of the darkest and most shocking of the Pre-Code films, The Story of Temple Drake was based on William Faulkner’s pulp novel Sanctuary, with Miriam Hopkins as a sexually adventurous wild child who is viciously assaulted by a gang of bootleggers and forced into prostitution. Hopkins gives a fascinating performance and avoids just about every cliché she might have fallen back on. Mark Tiarks, a frequent Pasatiempo writer and popular Renesan presenter, provides a 25-minute introduction.
