Joe Hisaishi’s acclaimed body of work spans the concert hall and contemporary symphonic repertoire, as well as a true mastery of Japanese cinema scoring. In this program of his own compositions, Hisaishi leads the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in Encounter, a striking work for strings inspired by visual art, and his Harp Concerto written for and performed by Emmanuel Ceysson — hailed as “brilliantly gifted” by Opera News. The program centers on Hisaishi’s dynamic Concerto for Orchestra, a powerful statement of his distinctive musical language and creative vision. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience one of today’s most distinguished voices conducting his own music.
