A father is dead. A mother has moved on. And a son can feel the lies closing in. Hamlet is the only one willing to look beneath the surface, but the deeper he digs, the harder it gets to tell friend from enemy, sanity from madness, justice from revenge. Folio: The Seattle Athenaeum is thrilled to collaborate with Union Arts Center to bring you a pre-show afternoon with director Victor Pappas, returning to helm this season's opener, Hamlet. How do you turn Shakespeare's most-read play into a visceral experience? Before the curtain rises, join us for a special behind-the-scenes conversation on staging a lean and mean Hamlet for today's audience. Pappas promises a tight, relentless performance from the opening chill to the final duel. Attendees and Folio members enjoy an exclusive 25% discount on tickets to the September 23rd or 30th performances at 7:30pm. Don't miss your chance to see Pappas' vision come to life on stage! Contact Tess Selim to request the member code. Victor Pappas is a Seattle-based director and actor trained at the American Conservatory Theatre, with directing credits including The Price, Mary Stuart, and Other Desert Cities at ACT., and The Glass Menagerie, Betrayal, and The Importance of Being Earnest at Intiman Theatre. As an actor, his work spans Broadway, regional Shakespeare festivals, and film and television, including Knightriders and As the World Turns. The Union Arts Center is a non-profit performing arts organization in downtown Seattle formed by the July 2025 merger of ACT Contemporary Theatre and the Seattle Shakespeare Company. Learn More
