Outlaw Production Collective Presents: Books on the Chopping Block – The Best of the Banned

· Library Meeting Rooms Registration required This program is in English Outlaw Production Collective (OPC) celebrates the 20th anniversary of their Books on the Chopping Block series with a “Best of the Banned” live performance and audience discussion. Books on the Chopping Block is a celebration of the American Library Association (ALA)’s Banned Books Week. It features live dramatic readings by professional actors of excerpts from the ALA’s annual list of the top 10 most challenged books in the United States. This “Best of the Banned” performance features OPC’s top 5 favorite readings from the last 20 years. There will be a discussion of each book, the reasons it has been challenged, and the moral panics that these challenges reflect. There will be a giveaway of educational materials and information provided on censorship and the freedom to read. Outlaw Production Collective is a local production company that produces unique live performances and events that showcase and foster the talents of their community of associates.
