About this event
One of 39 upcoming events at Civic Garden Center (CGC), and 1,122 across Cincinnati.
Learn how to turn a dried-out stem of dogbane into a strong rope—and how that rope can be used to ignite fire from materials commonly found in local fields and forests. We'll begin by looking at the history of these skills, then make ropes and witness igniting a fire through friction. You'll leave with a rope you made yourself and some unique new skills. MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR: Howie Zuefle has been in the local gardening, native plant, and foraging community for the past 11 years. His plant journey began when he interned at the Civic Garden Center in 2014. Howie now manages Growing Value: Edible Plant Nursery in Price Hill, does permaculture landscape design, and guides nature connection classes. COST: $35
