Waterloo Makes Music is a free concert series, presented by Cleveland Rocks: Past, Present, Future, showcasing acts from the Cleveland music scene at various locations in the Waterloo Arts & Entertainment District. The Mars Express The band name stems from singer/songwriter, Sara “Smile” Remington’s cosmic influence and given nickname to musical director/songwriter, Marcelino “Mars” Quiroz. Mars, college graduate (Berklee ’04) grew up in the East Bay Area of Northern California and has been playing all things keys since childhood. One of his fondest memories is playing along with his brother’s video game music as kids. After the conjunction of musical soulmate, Sara, the stars aligned and they became dreamers of playing only the music they love. While working on the scene together in a funk band, hosting Jam nights, and orbiting around as musicians for hire, the two started their project. The goal’s been to uplift listeners with inspirational lyrics that inspire critical thinking around social norms, while paying tribute to favorite musicians. With personal experience of the healing and powerful abilities music can bring to life, it became the underlying musical narrative of The Mars Express. Sara’s blossoming out of her music therapy, sound healing era and into her poetry era, became the right time for a curated live musical experience played in 432 hz co-written by Mars! https://themarsexpress.com/ Nature Nvoke Cleveland artist Nate “Ace” Eberhardt is an Afro-futurist and prolific conceptualist whose belief in the healing power of music has manifested itself in 5 singles and 7 EP’s. These works of varying numbers of tracks were produced and released under the name Nature, including the 2024 12-song album, “Doors Of Perception.” Since its beginning as a solo project in 2019, Eberhardt has primarily been concerned with turning the practice of merging past struggles and present identity into a sound. Naturally evolving since its conception, what was once a solo bedroom project has become a full ensemble with the additions of drummer David “Coach Dave” Parks and bassist Josh “Mekhi” Burton.
