Hand written letters: Balancing in unbalanced times

About this event
One of 9 upcoming events at CLUSTER MUSEUM, and 271 across Ann Arbor.
Inspired by Rebecca Solnit and other writers’ responses to creating art during unbalanced times, drop by CLUSTER Museum to hand write a letter to your future self about what is needed in these unbalanced times. We will supply beautiful pens and paper for participants to hand write themselves a letter, reflecting on various famous artists’ prompts such as: “What poems don’t get written when the poet is putting the fire out, why would any of us weed the garden or plant the lilies when the fire is raging in our home? What depths might we explore when we’re not attending to crisis on the surface, what would we be thinking about if we didn’t all have what I think of as informational hypervigilance.” Rebecca Solnit from Meditations in an Emergency newsletter. Participants can choose to take home their response or leave as part of our current community wall in the gallery. Free: All Ages This activity is tied into our current exhibition, In the Shadow of the Hand: In a world being inundated with data centers and AI-generated everything, this show presents 5-artists artists who work with their hands, bridging the gap between conceptually driven work and contemporary craft.
