Paper Paper Art Book Fair arrives May 2 & 3, 2026 at CLUSTER Museum! Paper Paper is a 2-day independent art book fair that features artist book publishers and art book creators & writers from across the Midwest! 20 vendors come together in CLUSTER’s gallery to sell their items including artist books, prints, posters, and more. Answer: An artist book is different than an “art book” that may feature a single artist (a monograph) or museum exhibition. An artist book is made by artists or writers through small press publishers or self-published. The University of Michigan describes artist books as “books in the form of art objects or art objects in the form of books. They may look more like a codices (bound books) that employ elements from the visual arts, or they may appear more like visual works of art that borrow the vocabulary of books, such as text or pages,” (AAEL Special Collections). Artist books represent a pioneering spirit with fresh perspectives that keep the human conversation evolving and awakening!
