Songwriter BOB HALLIGAN JR has one of the most interesting musical resumes around, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the 443 to give a 2-hour workshop on the art and craft of songwriting. Anyone can learn & improve on the basics! TOPICS: Writing lyrics – how to have an ANGLE Melody – Can we “hear” the chords it implies? Collaboration: 2 heads are… Demos: Do’s & Don’t’s Performing your songs: More important than you realize! How to begin?: There must be 50 ways… Bob spent 12 yrs teaching songwriting at Syracuse University, and has had 220 of his songs recorded, with 30 million units sold, and 10 GOLD or PLATINUM records. Bob was a Syracuse University adjunct professor teaching MUI 400 (songwriting seminar) and MTC 551 (advanced songwriting) TRF 457 (film scoring) MUI 320 (Music industry laboratory) RAE 400 The Beatles. He retired in 2019. Worked in the studio with Henson and his “Muppeteers” coaching them on the vocals. Awards and Recognition: Contemporary Christian Rock song of the Year, 1989: “I Can, I Will” co-written with and recorded by Rick Cua Nominated for a CableAce award- 1992- for the song “Let Me Be Your Friend” for Best Original Song, which appeared in the Nickelodeon show “Roundhouse.” Composed scores for silent films by Alfred Hitchcock and Laurel & Hardy and performed them live w/ Ceili Rain at the Julien Dubuque INT’L Film Fest 2017 & 2018.
