This photographic exhibit is a series of composite portraits of members of the Syracuse Veterans' Writing Group, created by local photographer and Vietnam Veteran Robert Hawley and daughter Elizabeth of Hawley Studios. The documentary project he has undertaken focuses on original photos of individual veterans in uniform during their time in service, and a second portrait includes contemporary images of those same veterans. The exhibit also includes collaged writing done by the veterans. The composite images showcase veterans lived experience: from service member to veteran with the intervening agent of time. About the artist: The Hawley Studio was founded in 1946 when Robert’s father returned from WWII. Robert joined the business after his Vietnam service. This exhibit will be on display in the adult section on the main floor of Soule Branch Library from October 31, 2026 – November 24, 2026. There will be a reception and reading at the library on November 10 at 5:15pm-7:15pm.
