Ceramic Wind Chimes: A 2-Day Clay Workshop with Brooke Morse Instructor: Brooke Morse Dates: Making days: Wednesday, August 12th 5-7:30 pm, Glaze day Wednesday, August 19th 5pm-7:30pm Ages: Adult/Teen (12+) Maximum enrollment: 5 Fee: $45 (member price: $36) Skill Level: Intermediate Location: 3-D Studio, Salmon River Fine Arts Center Create beautiful handmade ceramic wind chimes that add art, movement, and sound to your home or garden in this 2 day clay workshop! Students will spend one session building and designing their custom wind chimes and return for a second session to glaze and finish their creations. Throughout the workshop, students will learn handbuilding techniques, surface decoration methods, and construction strategies that create both functional and decorative artwork while exploring how shape, texture, and design influence movement and sound. Workshop Breakdown: Day 1: Building & Designing • Learn handbuilding techniques for creating ceramic components • Design pieces that create movement, balance, and sound • Explore texture through carving, stamping, and surface design • Construct hanging systems and learn assembly techniques • Build multiple components to create a personalized wind chime Day 2: Glazing & Finishing • Learn glazing techniques and color application • Explore finishing methods for outdoor durability • Prepare pieces for kiln firing and final assembly This workshop is perfect for beginners, clay enthusiasts, garden lovers, and anyone interested in creating handmade functional art. Students will leave with a one-of-a-kind ceramic wind chime that combines creativity, craftsmanship, and movement. Come play with clay and create something beautiful that dances in the wind! This class encourages experimentation, craftsmanship, and creative growth while helping students strengthen both technical skills and artistic voice. Perfect for intermediate potters looking to build confidence and elevate their ceramic work in a supportive studio environment. All materials will be supplied (no outside clay permitted in the pottery studio). This is an in-person class.
