Join Zine Fest Houston for a special workshop inspired by the symbolic portraits in the exhibition Mario Ayala: Seven Vans where we explore this question. What to Expect:  Participants will explore Mario Ayala: Seven Vans to learn more about Ayala’s artwork. Then, you’ll get your creative juices flowing with drawing exercises to figure out what YOUR vehicular, or non-human, self-portrait would look like. Participants will then create a self-portrait that expresses their essence – no mirror required – using art materials such as colored pencils, pens, and markers. At the end of the workshop, each participants’ artwork will be scanned and turned into a collaborative zine that each person will be able to take home at the end of the workshop!  This event is free and open to anyone who is 18 or older. Limited space is available. RSVP is required to participate.This event is currently at capacity. We recommend joining the waitlist if interested.
